Our Tahitian black pearls’ (also known as Black Pearls) range in diameter from 9-18mm and have a minimum 0.8-mm nacre thickness encapsulating the black pearl nucleus. The bulk of our black pearls are not black, but gradients of charcoal, green and silver. Black pearls are also known as "peacock pearls" due to their iridescent color. Black pearls are the most sought after and expensive pearls in the world because the variance in color provides a unique feel and style. Shop our black pearl jewelry.
Our black pearls are completely natural, no dyes or chemicals are used to alter hue and color.
Our Tahitian Black Pearls are produced from the Pinctada Margaritifera genus or the black-lipped oyster. The Pinctada Margaritifera genus’s shell grows to about 20-cm in length. The black-lipped oyster, which produces black pearls, can be nucleated multiple times, which aids in culturing larger pearls with thicker nacre.
Our black pearls are not actually farmed in Tahiti, but in the surrounding islands of French Polynesia. Tahiti is where the pearls are exported from.
